Cruise Itinerary

Day 1: HCM – Arrival

  • Fly to Ho Chi Minh then transfer to your hotel. Check in for 2-night stay
  • Relax and begin getting acquainted with the city

Day 2: HCM – City

  • Begin your tour of this bustling metropolis in the China town
  • Walk along Dong Khoi Street – the main shopping boulevard in the old colonial heart: see the grand City Hall, the old Opera House with its soaring arched entryway, Notre Dame Cathedral and the Central Post Office
  • Head to Ben Thanh Market for some handcrafed souvenirs and also visit a lacquer factory

Day 3: HCM – My Tho

  • Check out of your hotel and proceed to My Tho to embark your ship
  • Begin sailing along the Mekong River
  • Meet the ship’s officers over a welcome cocktail and enjoy a screening of the film l’Amant (The Lover) which will prepare for your next day visit to Sa Dec

Day 4: My Tho – Sa Dec

  • Visit Cai Be floating market: see local workers producing rice noodles, coconut candy and a host of other handmade products
  • Enjoy an exciting sampan excursion along the canals and backwaters of the Mekong Delta
  • Get a glimpse of industry in the region with a visit to a brick factory
  • Stop in Sa Dec to visit Mr Huynh Thuy Le, the protagonist in Marguerite Duras’s beloved autobiographic novel, l’Amant (The Lover)
  • Attend an onboard screening of the 2002 film The Quiet American, based on Graham Greene’s novel set in 1952 Sai Gon

Day 5: Sa Dec – Tan Chau – Crossing border to Cambodia

  • Have a rare glimpse of rural life as it has been lived for ages
  • Begin your morning with a ride on a traditional rickshaw in Tan Chau Observe the making of floor mats from sedge and slippers from uzu
  • Visit the floating fish farm by wooden sampan
  • Take a boat ride to Vinh Hoa – the “Evergreen Island” then take a short walk to see various methods of traditional Vietnamese farming and the craft and other daily activities of local people firsthand
  • Return aboard for lunch and scenic cruising along the Mekong
  • Cross over into Cambodia
  • Onboard activities include a fruit-carving workshop and a presentation about the history of Vietnam
  • Enjoy the 1984 film The Killing Field

Day 6: Tan Chau – Phnom Penh

  • Explore the city on a cyclo to see the magnificent Royal Palace with Silver Pagoda and the National Museum of Cambodia
  • Join an excursion to Tuol Sleng detention center and the Killing Fields of Choeung Ek
  • Explore the city’s maze of small alleys, markets and busy street on your own
  • Enjoy dinner with a folkloric performance

Day 7: Phnom Penh

  • Ride to Udon Monastery to receive a blessing by the monks
  • Explore Cambodian village through the village famous for its silversmiths
  • Free in the afternoon

Day 8: Mekong River

  • Enjoy scenic cruising along Mekong – one of the world’s great rivers or the “Mother River of Southeast Asia” where sustaining civilizations through the centuries
  • Visit a typical Khmer river community that is famous for its silk-weaving production

Day 9: Kampong Cham

  • Take a motor coach ride to see Phnom Pros and Phnom Srei – the Twin Holy Mountains, then visit the nearby Buddhist temple and garden
  • Visit a Kampong Cham orphanage where students create beautiful paintings that are available to purchase

Day 10: Siem Reap

  • Farewell to end the cruise through Vietnam and Cambodia
  • Disembark in Kampong Thom
